Hello friends, welcome to the
very last challenge of Teenage Gorgeous You! 2017. I would like to take this
opportunity to THANK all of YOU for your constant support. If you’ve been
following up all my challenges, watched all my cheeky videos, liked my
Instagram posts, or simply gave moral support through out, I truly appreciate
it! Thank you for also tuning into this
one last challenge, which also happens to be something heartfelt that I want to
share with you guys.
For challenge 7 I got to be part
of the Teenage ‘I Pledge’ Good Vibes campaign, which aims to spread Internet
positivity. This is pretty much free and easy and I took the opportunity to
talk about an issue close to your heart; being true to one self and not afraid
of being judged.
Recently I was online and I came
across an article that shared “The top 10 regrets that people have before they
die”. The one that is on my heart
happens to be the no. 1 regret people have before they die.
#1 Regret people have before they die :
“I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not a
life others expected of me.”
Well, I believe all of us can
relate to that on some level at a certain point of our life. Times when we feel
like we don’t fit in, or when we are afraid of being judged, we unknowingly
allow society to control how we should behave or be like.
I am not going to write
grandmother stories or give inspirational talks on how we should behave, but
more of encouraging us to always be true to ourselves! I’ve come to a
conclusion that we don’t have to hide who we are. In my aspect for example, if
you have a passion or talent or skill that you don’t really tell people about,
ITS OKAY. Its okay to be who you are. You need to know that God made you! He
made you for very specific reasons. He gave you those specific talents and
skills for a reason! To serve and to shine!
So in my video, I reenact
scenes from a dancer point of view, because dance is one of the passion I have
and it’s something close to my heart. I have had my fair share of ups and downs
as a dancer. I often doubt myself for being able to “qualify” the title,
‘dancer’. Most of the time, dancers
around me are growing and improving fast, they dance so well and look so good
effortlessly, and me on the other hand is just in a constant struggle to do
well, look good and feel good in dance. I was so afraid of how people will look
at me. But like what Joanna (a friend of mine in TGY2017) said, “the love for
dance never, never dies”. Although the thoughts of “I bad at this”, “maybe I am
not cut out for this” still comes and go, I’ve learnt to let go and enjoy the
process! BE YOURSELF. Keep on doing what you love!
DO WHAT YOU LOVE WHAT YOU DO!
Be it dancing, singing,
writing, ANYTHING, go all in, and live an authentic life! Be proud of who you
are and what you can do! That’s the beauty of humanity, is that everybody has
their own talent, that special thing, its just about tapping into it, and
having true confidence!
“To be yourself in a world that
is constantly trying to make you
something else is the greatest
accomplishment.”
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
And so I present to you my
final video for TGY2017, I hope you enjoy it.
As usual, what’s fun
without some photo-taking right?
